Walking on Matar

She steps out on to the landing pad from the shuttle.  The air is crisp and clean, her breath can be seen lingering in the air.  She looks around seeing the mountains around her, then she extends one of her hands watching the snow fall onto her dark skin.  Taken back for the moment for as the memories come flooding back to her.  She is on Matar, the same landing pad Joshua brought her too those what feel to be a life time ago years, this is was her first memory of the Republic.  Now she is here for something else, this is where she will say goodbye to it.

She sticks her hands into her thick leather jacket with the crisp mountain air sending a chill to her bone.  She looks around as she remembers the memory, the words "Its okay, your safe now, your in the Republic."  Ring through her head, scoffing silently at it and thinking silently "Safe, safe? Its brought me nothing but pain, the Republic has done nothing but destroy my life."  She turns to walk over to the edge of the landing pad, she looks out over the mountain range thinking about what she is about to do.

"Is this really Matar?" A young matari girl calls from behind her speaking to someone else.  "Its so beautiful."

She opens her mouth to say something to the girl, but decides not to, let the girl have her illusions because eventually they will fade quickly.  She walks down the pathway that she walked many years ago, taking the time to honor the memories that flood back to her.  Knowing that, this is right thing to do, he will understand why she is doing this.  Her brilliant green eyes darting around her, taking in the familiar sights, a sadness washes over her, the reminder of her what she has lost since then almost seems too much.

Deciding to walk down towards the city below allowing herself sometime to honor the memories that come with this place for her.  Missing Joshua so much right now, trying to be strong for what she is going to do, but she trembles inside because she is terrified.  She walks down the mountain for about a hour, seeing a bench on a plateau looking out at the city below, she decides to take a bit of a rest and sits down.

Bringing her hands out of her pockets, blowing into them softly to warm them up as the chill over takes her from the mountain air.  "Mom, I am here.  Joshua, I miss you so much right now.  I could use your strength, I am so scared."  She wraps her arms around her stomach, almost in the sense of giving herself some strength, as tears fall down from her dazzling green eyes.  Her shoulders shake, taking her hands off of her stomach and burring her face in them. "I wanna go home."  She shakes her head "No, I cant yet."  She wipes the tears out of her eyes, taking a deep breath, she stands up and continues on her walk down the mountain.

Sticking her hands back into the pockets of her thick biker leather jacket, her eyes glancing around allowing herself to remember.  A soft smile comes across her face honoring the memories that this place is bringing to her.  Hint of sadness in her heart knowing that her family never set foot on Matar, so much history here.  She shakes her head "Its okay to remember, honor it, but we are not Matari after the pain that has been caused to us.  We are Angels, members of the Cartel.  Where I am not forced to chance to suit any one's satisfaction.  I don't have to leave my home, my kids home."  She says to herself softly as she walks.

She walks into the outskirts of the city, finally pulling out her data pad and checking for the address on it, of the place she needs to go.  Waving down a transportation vessel, she gives the driver the address, with a nod the driver, drives her over to where she needs to go.  She looks out the window, watching the city pass her by, the hussle of it, thinking of how little they know of the cluster and what is really going on.  For a moment she envies them, their ignorance is almost a soothing relief to her, a innocence in a sense of the words of the dangers that lurk just beyond their planet.

Smiling slightly, her mind quickly changes, she would rather know then to be well asleep to the cluster.  The driver stops at the location given, she smiles and steps out of the vessel.  She looks up at the building with wide green eyes, watching the police and guards scurry about, walking up the long stair way into the building, taking a deep breath.  Her shaky hand opens the door, as she exhales and walks inside the building.  She disappears inside the building, taking the next step towards her journey.....
